1976 WATER ORDINANCE _- December 3, 1976 . TO: Residents of Basin Water and Sewer District The District Board of Directors has -adopted water and sewer ordinances providing for the operation of the systems. The main features of these ordinances as they will apply to most users are as follows: i WATER ORDINANCE 1. Bills will be mailed to users on or before the 25th of each month. 2. Payments are due in advance on the 5th of the month. ' 3. In case of non-payment, the Superintendent will send a past due notice. If the bill is not paid by the 15th of { that month, the Superintendent will send the user a notice of discontinuance of service. If the user has not paid ! the bill by the 5th of the following month, water services will be shut off by the Superintendent until the bills are paid. 4. Each building within the District must have separate connections to the main. 5. All buildings within the District must be connected to the water main within one year if the water main is within 150 feet of the property line of the property to be served. If the building to be served is more than 300 feet from the main, this requirement can be waived by the Superin- tendent. 6. If a connection is to be made to the main, the following . procedure applies: The Superintendent must be contacted for a permit to do the work. An inspection fee of $Apwill ,, be charged. The person doing the actual work must first post a $1,000 bond with the District to provide for expenses in the event of damage to property of the District. In the case of persons renting property, if the landowner is not responsible for the water use obligation, the rentor must a double pay ble the monthly charge as the initial payment. This deposit shall be considered as the first and last month's water rent for the rentor. 7. The accounts receivable. of the old water company were pur- 1 chased by the Basin Water and Sewer District and are now obligations owed directly to the District and are now due. Separate bills from the District, covering these outstanding accounts will be mailed to the user by the District. $. The initial water charge will be $4 for the average house- ' hold and $6 for commercial users. The basic provisions outlined above for water service likewise apply to the sewer services that will become avail- able. When sewer services are available, charges for the service . will be the same as for_ *at.er services, subject to change by the Board of Directors as required by operating costs. Mr. Keith Grund of Basin has been appointed as Superintendent for the water and sewer system. He has copies of the ordinances and can be contacted for details concerning installation, operation and maintenance matters. The Secretary—Treasurer for the District is Mrs. Paige Knight of Basin and she will be in charge of billing and collections.
