RD-BR 2015 01-27 ROAD AND BRIDGE REPORT JANUARY 27, 2015 Present: Commissioners Leonard Wortman, Cory Kirsch and Bob Mullen and Road Supervisor, Rory Parsons. Rory Parsons reviewed the road and bridge report with the Commissioners. Montana City Crew The crew has been hauling sand and cleaning culverts. Boulder Crew Minor flooding has occurred in the Boulder Valley and Whitetail areas. The crew has been hauling sand and cleaning culverts. Feller is blading the Lower Valley Road around Bullock's place. The roadway is not thawed enough to do much but the bumps will be less prominent. Parsons will be meeting with Bullock's surveyor in a next couple of weeks. Century Link has been contacted for a locate on the phone lines. Whitehall Crew The crew has been hauling sand and cleaning culverts. Minor flooding was reported in the Milligan Canyon area. DES and the Sheriff s office called regarding the flooding and Kountz was called out to put signs up in the flooded areas. Lower Valley Road Project Parsons will be meeting with Bullock's surveyor in a next couple of weeks. Century Link has been contacted for a locate on the phone lines. If needed, the road department will extend culverts. Some small pipes may be installed to help with spring runoff. The drainage needs to be right before the road materials are laid down by the contractor. The fence line by McCauley's may need to be moved. Wortman asked Parsons to talk with Ed McCauley about the fence and to check on what type of fence he wants. McCauley may want four or five wire fencing. Montana Tunnels has agreed to donate $25000.00 towards the road improvements. Pat Imerson indicated the money will be sent to the county in either April or May. Safety Meeting The safety meeting will be held on Tuesday. February 3, at 7 a.m. LTAP Parsons and two members of his crew will be attending the sign workshop on Wednesday. January 28`h in Great Falls. Equipment Central Shop has been working on the snow plow trucks. Vetsch is working on installing the new engine in one of the trucks. The air valve broke on another truck but this will be a minor repair job. Road Mix Parsons has met with Kip Keim regarding the shortage of gravel that was purchased from him by the previous Road Supervisor, Joe Carter. Parsons will have the crew haul approximately $2000 worth of sand in exchange for the gravel he owed the county. Boulder Dumpsite Discussion was held regarding the placement of a yield sign on the road coming out of the Boulder dumpsite. Parsons suggested making it a t-intersection. Kirsch stated that we need to get this fixed before an accident occurs. Parsons will ask for advice on the type and correct placement of signs at the LTAP workshop that he will be attending tomorrow.
