RD-BR 2015 02-17 L ROAD AND BRIDGE REPORT February 17, 2015 Present: Commissioners Leonard Wortman, Cory Kirsch and Bob Mullen and Road Supervisor, Rory Parsons. Rory Parsons reviewed the road and bridge report with the Commissioners. Montana City Crew A green sign was installed on the lower end of Jackson Creek Road. A "no equipment on roadway" sign was installed on Martinez Gulch Road. The crew has hauled 3200 yards of sand. The Montana City area should have a two-year supply of sand. Pot holes have been patched as weather permits. An approach permit was received for Lot 11 of Ridge View Estates. Parsons will do some research on the Lot and talk with the County Attorney's office before he issues a permit for the approach onto the public right of way. Boulder Crew The crew has been grading roads in the Boulder area and cleaning and extending culverts on the Upper Valley Road. Parsons asked the Commission what they would like him to do with the foot bridge in Clancy, should he repair the foot bridge or plan to have it removed? Mullen suggested talking with the resident who called Parsons. Wortman noted that the Commission will be holding a night meeting during the month of March in Clancy. Wortman suggested putting the issue of the foot bridge on the agenda for public comment. Whitehall Crew The Whitehall crew has finished hauling sand from Keim's pit. The Whitehall area has a two- year supply of sand. The crew has been grading roads in the Whitehall area. The cattle guard by the KG Ranch, which is located on the Milligan Canyon Road, was repaired using four x four steel. The crew is repairing frost boils on the roadways. Kirsch noted that the Whitetail road is rough in many places. Discussion was held regarding the State of Montana's plans to repair approximately four miles of this road. In previous discussions the county and state agreed to the repair of seven to eight miles of roadway. Mullen suggested that a letter be sent to the State regarding this issue. Lower Valley Road Project Parsons will be meeting with Bob on the as-built, which will include the volumes, for this project. The millings for the Lower Valley Road project will come from the State of Montana's Elk Park/Butte area highway resurfacing project. Parsons will be meeting with McCauley and Franchi on the fences when he has the final plans for the project. Equipment Pate Auction sold the road equipment last week. A check for approximately $10000.00 should be issued to the county in the next few weeks. The Central Shop department purchased the Cataract Fire trailer at the auction. Ice scrapers were purchased for two of the road graders Parsons and Vetsch have been searching the internet for snow plow trucks. A truck was found in Edmonton but it doesn't include a sander. The price is approximately $80,000.00 which includes free delivery. A truck was also found in Seattle but it does not include a sander or plow. Wortman commented that the county budgeted $80,000.00 to purchase two snowplow trucks. At the MACO convention Kirsch and Mullen learned of an internet site that pertains to the sale of public equipment. The county can list equipment for sale on this site as well as search for equipment to purchase. Kirsch will get the information for Parsons and Vetsch so they can search the site.
