RD-BR 2015 02-24 ROAD AND BRIDGE REPORT February 24,2015 Present: Commissioners Leonard Wortman, Cory Kirsch and Road Supervisor, Rory Parsons. Absent: Commissioner Mullen. Rory Parsons reviewed the road and bridge report with the Commissioners. Montana City Crew A vehicle slid off the road this weekend so Parsons called out a member of the crew to sand roads. On Monday the crew continued plowing and sanding roads. The last load of sand was hauled from the Montana Tunnels area on Friday. The county has approximately a two-year supply of sand for the Montana City area. The crew will begin patching pot holes this week. Boulder Crew The crew has been plowing and sanding roadways. The crew is installing extensions on culverts located on Upper Valley Road. The Boulder crew finished hauling sand last week:. The county has a three-year supply of sand for this area. Whitehall Crew The crew has been grading roads in the valley area. Wortman asked Parsons if he had been on Kelly Road. The road is full of ruts and broken up in many areas. The county may need to repair and chip seal the road. Kelly Road is partially owned by the City of Whitehall. Parsons will talk with the City about the road before any repairs are made to the roadway. Lower Valley Road Project Parsons and Wortman met with Buster Bullock this morning to look at the road project. The project is proceeding as planned. Ridge View Estates Parsons will not issue an approach permit in this subdivision as the roads are not county roads. Discussion was held on the approach permits procedures. Milligan Canyon Cattle Guard A wooden edge was pinned to the cattle guard concrete. Snow Plow Truck On Monday, a snow plow truck broke down. Vetsch had the truck towed into the central shop. Vetsch and Parsons have been searching for snow plow trucks that will fit the needs of the county. The truck in Canada was sold for $80,000.00. They are now looking at a couple of trucks in the Puget Sound area. The truck will cost approximately $49,500.00, which includes delivery. Vetsch will continue to work on purchasing a new truck for the department. Wortman suggested buying one snow plow truck this fiscal year and budgeting for another truck next year. McCarty Creek Road Kirsch has received comments regarding damage caused by use on this roadway. Parsons will look at the road and discuss it with the Commission next week. Signs Parsons received the signs for the Boulder dump site roadway. The crew will put the signs up today.
