RD-BR 2015 05-26 ROAD AND BRIDGE REPORT May 26,2015 Present: Commissioners Leonard Wortman, Cory Kirsch and Bob Mullen and Road Supervisor, Rory Parsons. Rory Parsons reviewed the road and bridge report with the Commissioners. Montana City Crew The crew has been sweeping and grading McClellan Creek Road. They will finish sweeping this week. Boulder Crew The crew is grading the roads in Boulder View Subdivision and the old railroad roadway. Culverts were installed on upper valley roads. Whitehall Crew The crew is hauling rocks and grading roads in Whitehall area. Lower Valley Road Project Beginning tomorrow, all crews will be working on the Lower Valley Road project. Discussion was held on the road project and areas of the road that may need to be widened. The county may have 700 to 800 yards of extra material. Parsons received an invoice from Giulio for the gravel. The invoice will be paid next week. Road Position The road position in Montana City has been posted. Applications will be received through June 12. Sheep Camp Road A resident called on Friday regarding the condition of the road. The crew checked out the road and re-graded some areas that needed it. The road is not maintained by the county. The road is composed of conda rock and has road mix on it. Wortman stated that the hill becomes very wash boarded at times but is otherwise not in bad condition. Clancy Foot Bridge Parsons is waiting for the material to arrive from Gary Marks to be used on the repair of the foot bridge. The project should be completed in June. Equipment Vetsch and Parsons have received photos of the snow plow that they located in Spokane. They have requested a price quote. Kirsch asked if the crew is short one snow plow. Parsons replied that the county snow plows are old and unreliable and he would like to replace at least one of the plows. Parsons monitored the sale of a sweeper that was up for bid on the auction site. The sweeper was sold for$25,000.00. Schedule A Roads Kirsch asked Parsons if he had looked at the Schedule A roads. The agreement with the Forest Service expired five years ago. Parsons will review the roads and discuss it with the Commission at a future date. Valley Excavating called regarding the condition of Basin Creek Road and whether they would have trouble hauling an excavator up the road. Kirsch asked Parsons if he had looked at the road that Steve Carey had called about last week. Parsons will review the road this week. The road is a non-maintained county road. Mr. Carey will be hauling cows to Lockhart Meadows and would like it to be graded. Mr. Fitzgerald asked Kirsch why the crew is traveling back and forth to fill up the water truck instead of filling out of his ditch. Parsons stated that it is not worth the trouble of hauling the pump out and setting it up for three loads of water. The crew does request the use of water from the ditch if the size of the project warrants it.
