RD-BR 2015 06-02 ROAD AND BRIDGE REPORT June 2,2015 Present: Commissioners - Cory Kirsch and Bob Mullen and Road Supervisor, Rory Parsons. Rory Parsons reviewed the road and bridge report with the Commissioners. Montana City Crew The crew has been grading Sawmill Road and cleaning up the area around the shop. The railing for the Clancy Foot Bridge should be ready for installation later this week. Boulder Crew The crew is working on the Whitetail Road this week. They graded and placed gravel on portions of the Valley Road yesterday. Bullock called and thanked the crew for doing such a good job on the roadway. The crew will also touch up Bernice Road when weather permits. Whitehall Crew The crew has been cleaning out the cattle guards in the Edwards Addition and grading Parrot Castle Road. Lower Valley Road Project Giulio is done with the first cut on the road and will start work on the second cut tomorrow. The first cut was thirty feet wide instead of forty feet wide because his laser was off. The road crew applied gravel to a few spots on the road. They will continue to apply gravel in areas that are deteriorating, due weather conditions, until the milling project has been completed. Safety Meeting MACO is coming to the county today at 2:00 p.m. to talk to the crew about load securement. Speed Reader The speed reader board will be put on Lump Gulch Road this week. Parsons has talked with the Sheriff's department about this issue. Chip Seal Oil Parsons ordered the chip seal oil for 9.5 miles of roadway. The price is approximately$549.00 per ton which includes delivery in August to the chip seal sites. Martinez Gulch Discussion was held on the maintenance of this road. Mullen stated that the county resolution may not have been noticed correctly so the county may need to provide the labor costs to maintain the road. Mullen would like to see some patching done on the road this year. The road is not twenty feet wide in some places so a grader may have to be brought in to widen the road. A meeting will be held with a couple of the landowners in the district, Great West Engineers, Mullen and Parsons. Parsons stated that it will cost approximately $12,000 per mile to maintain a road. Snow Plow Truck Vetsch has received the spec sheet on the truck, which appears to meet the needs of the county. They have not received a firm price on the cost of the truck. Cell Phone Contract Kip would like to be reimbursed for the cost of using his personal cell phone instead of using a county cell phone. The Clerk and Recorder's office can provide Parsons with a sample agreement form that may be used for his department. Open Position The job opening for the road crew has been advertised. The applications are due by June 12. A current CDL license is required. Radarsburg Road Kirsch asked Parsons if he had looked at Radarsburg Road pursuant to the concerns voiced by Steve Carey. Parsons will look at the road as soon as it stops raining. Tour of County Roads The Commission and Parsons will complete their tour of the county roads as soon as time permits.
