RD-BR 2015 07-14 ROAD AND BRIDGE REPORT July 14, 2015 Present: Commissioners Leonard Wortman, Cory Kirsch and Bob Mullen and Road Supervisor, Rory Parsons. Rory Parsons reviewed the road and bridge report with the Commissioners. Montana City Crew The rain may have caused us to lose the dust oil application that was applied to the roads yesterday. The crew is in the process of cleaning roads for chip sealing. Boulder Crew The crew is grading Elkhorn Road today and will begin applying the gravel later in the week. They completed the dirt work on the Lower Valley Road. Whitehall Crew The crew has been grading Cottonwood Road and helping the Boulder crew on the Elkhorn Road. Lower Valley Road Project This project is not complete. Mullen drove the road and reported that it looks very good. Millings Parsons received a call from Riverside Contracting. Parsons would like to purchase the millings and mix them with gravel and place the mixture on Cottonwood Road. MDT asked Parsons to take the millings from the Basin Frontage road project. Parsons indicated that the county will take the millings from the state and use them on various roads. Snow Plow Truck The truck will be picked up in Spokane next week. Position Discussion was held on the process to hire the road crew position. The applications have been given to Wortman. The job requires the employee to live within a half hour from the road shop. Jackson Creek Discussion was held on the ditch and drainage issues on a section of the roadway. Wortman asked if this was designed by Great West as this ditch is two to three feet deep. Parsons will talk with Great West about the problem. Tizer Lake Road George DeMers called about the maintenance on this road. Mullen and Parsons will review this issue as it is confusing on the number of miles the county agreed to maintain. The Clerk and Recorder's office will perform a search of the records on this road for Parsons. Forest Park Mullen and Parsons will look at the asphalt patching on the edge of this road. Northwestern Energy contracted the job out and it was not done well. Pat Sampson has talked with Parsons and indicated they would also look at the patch job. This road should be chip sealed again next year.
