RD-BR 2015 08-11 ROAD AND BRIDGE REPORT August 11,2015 Present: Commissioners: Leonard Wortman, Cory Kirsch and Bob Mullen and Road Supervisor, Rory Parsons. Rory Parsons reviewed the road and bridge report with the Commissioners. Montana City Crew The crew has been grading Upper Lump Gulch Road and brooming chips on Martinez Gulch and Warm Springs Creek Roads. CDM has agreed to pay for dust oil on Lump Gulch Road to Park Lake as they are hauling waste material on the road. Boulder Crew The crew has graded Whitetail Road. The road closure signs have been posted for the Dunn Lane Bridge project. The crew is prepping Depot Hill Subdivision for the dust oil application. Whitehall Crew The crew graded Cedar Hills Road. Last week they hauled chips in the Boulder area. The crew will be patching roadways with the Montana City crew. Later this week they will apply dust oil on roads in the Whitehall area. Chip Seal The chip sealing projects have been completed. Parsons bought five hundred yards of chips from Gruber. Mullen asked if millings will be applied to the Corbin Road this year. Parsons stated that dust oil was applied this year. The millings will be put on the road next spring. Jackson Creek Discussion was held on the drainage and safety concerns on Jackson Creek Road. Parsons and Wortman viewed the road this morning. Many residents in the area have expressed concerns about this roadway. Parsons will work with the engineer to come up with ideas on how to make the road safe and help with the drainage issues. Striping will cost about $1000 - $1600 dollars per mile. Parsons is not sure when the striping will be done but would like to have it striped to the turn around area for the school bus. Lime Spur Road Wortman asked Parsons about the status of this road. The research is inconclusive. Wortman suggested telling the owner that they can't put a locked gate across the road. Mullen stated that this is a difficult issue and would like to consult with the County Attorney before any action is taken. Kelly Road Wortman asked Parsons if the county is going to work on this road. Parsons does not believe it is a county road and is the responsibility of the Town of Whitehall to repair this roadway. This issue will be discussed after Parsons has time to look into the status of the road. Little Boulder Kirsch asked Parsons how far the road was graded up Little Boulder. Discussion was held regarding the maintenance of the road. The Forest Service has some responsibility to maintain portions of the roadway. The road is a county road from Highway 69 for 2.8 miles.
