The Board of County Commissioners presumes the City will be working through the proper channels to adopt the City's official boundary map prior to its inclusion in the Growth Policy. We also assume that as a part of the adoption process, the public will be given the opportunity to review the proposed map and provide comments prior to its adoption. The Jefferson County Commissioners would also like the opportunity to review the map prior to its adoption by the City Council. We have had several inquiries from County residents owning properties bordering the City that have concerns about whether or not their properties will be affected by the updated boundaries. Being able to review the map will allow us to better respond to questions and concerns from our constituents. We trust that if any new County properties are being included within the City's boundaries that they will be lawfully annexed to assure that affected landowners are given sufficient notice of their inclusion and impacted landowners will be provided the opportunity to comment. Be reminded that in addition to updating the City's boundary map, the City's Ward map and zoning map will also need to be updated to accurately reflect the City's new boundaries. In August of 2016, Jefferson County's Clerk &Recorder sent a letter to the City of Boulder 1 requesting the City to review its records and file any annexation orders and changes in the number and boundaries of each ward. These items are required to occur per Section 7-2-4717 and 7-5-4401, MCA. The updated information needs to be submitted to the Clerk and Recorder's Office prior to the opening of the filing period for municipal elections. Be advised that the County Clerk& Recorder's 2016 request has yet to be addressed.
