BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Bill Dawson, Vaia Errett, Sue Kenyon, Bret Lian 2. BOARD MEMBERS ABSENT: Tom Harrington, Abbie Chermack, Lyn Stimpson 3. COUNTY STAFF/OFFICIALS PRESENT: LaDana Hintz (Planning Dept), Bruce Binkowski (Events Coordinator), Holli Woods (Events Dept), Leonard Wortman (Commissioner) 4. PUBLIC PRESENT: Jan Anderson 5. CALL TO ORDER: Sue called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM. It was determined that there was a quorum of Parks, Trails, and Recreation Commissioners present. 6. CORRESPONDENCE/COMMUNICATION: No Correspondence or Communication currently. GUEST SPEAKER: Brad Colin Outdoor Recreation Planner for BLM was the guest speaker. Brad is the BML National Motorized Recreational Subject Matter contact. Brad discussed the process of getting projects on BLM land. He said there are two major OHV trails in Jefferson County. Brad will send over the travel plans to Bruce to get some ideas for OHV areas for the Discover Jefferson website. Brad informed the committee that BLM is working on a nation top 30 recreational motorized list and Clancy and Pipestone will both be on that list. Brad also discussed the Ringing Rocks road and the possibility of working on fixing the road to make it more accessible. REGIONAL PARKS, TRAILS, RECREATION UPDATE: North: No Report Central/Elk Park: No Report South: No Report 7. NEW BUSINESS: Grant Application: Sue discussed applying for grants for the maps. LaDana said they could possibly apply for a tourism grant through Montana Department of Commerce. LaDana just need to know what the committee is proposing so it can be put in the application. Sue stated they would like to have funding for the recreation trails in Boulder map. Sue left a message for Marshall Clark map designer and is hoping to have proposal of cost soon. Leonard also mentioned selling advertising to help with the cost of the map. Trails Promotion: Vaia would like to have a place to put a more detailed description of areas that are going to be on the map. Vaia would like to promote not only to people in outside areas but also to residents. She would like an article/articles in the Boulder Monitor about some of the trails that would be on the map. Leonard also mentioned coming to the end of the month commission meeting and give a report on what the committee is doing. 8. OLD BUSINESS: Helena-Area Regional Trails Steering Committee: No report currently. Parks, Trails, Recreation Commission Email: Email has been set up, committee needs to decide how the email will be publicized and who will be in answering the emails. Map Sub—Committee: Sue and Vaia have been hiking the trails that will be highlighted on the map. Park by Saddle Mountain Subdivision: Sue spoke in front of the commissioners. The park is made up of two parcels, the parcel that is owned by the county is not the parcel that has the equipment on it. If the equipment is left it could possibly be a liability for the county even though its not owned by the county. OTHER BUSINESS: None MINUTES: The minutes from May 20, 2019 were approved with no corrections. PUBLIC COMMENT: Jan Anderson came to the meeting to discuss the Bike Barn. She would also like to come up with new ways to get information out about the Bike Barn. The committee will reach out Lyn to see if he possibly has any information about bike trails in the area. The Bike Barn will also be added to the Discover Jefferson map on www.discoverjeffersonmt.org 9. NEXT MEETING DATE: The next meeting will be held on Monday,July 22, 2019 at 6:30 PM.
