RD-BR 2019 06-11 ROAD AND BRIDGE REPORT June 11,2019 Present: Commissioners: Cory Kirsch and Bob Mullen, and Road Supervisor, Rory Parsons. Absent: Leonard Wortman Rory Parsons reviewed the road and bridge report with the Commissioners. Minutes No minutes were presented for approval. Road Crews The crews have been grading, patching roads and trimming trees. The CAT tech came out and looked at the hydraulics on the grader. He did not find anything so they put it back out on the roads and it is working okay. Sheep Mountain Road The public roadway by Patrick Cirillo's property encroaches on private property. Discussion was held regarding the status of the work that must be completed by the utility companies. Jack Mountain Estates Road Request The chip seal is breaking up where the heavy trucks are turning into the subdivision. Terri Wollin has stated that the RMD will pay for repairs to the roadway. Meridian Bridge Parsons is unable to identify what type of in-kind service the road department can provide for this project until he reviews the plans. He will then be able to determine what kind of material, etc. will be needed on the project. He will get more information from Kirsch. Gravel on Whitetail Project Several contractors have contacted Parsons stating that they are unable to meet the gravel specs for this State project and asking Parsons for information. Parsons talked with Gary Burton about what materials are available in the Whitehall area that may help in getting the gravel up to specifications for the project. The Whitetail Road agreement does not state what level of maintenance will be done on the roadway. The county is not responsible for indirect costs related to the MDT project. Dust Oil Parsons talked with Jeremiah at Great West about getting the bids out for dust oil. Parsons has received a complaint from Jeff Chaffee about mag chloride killing trees along the roadways. Jeremiah stated that it is the chemical that is recommended for use on roadways. Jeremiah said that you have to apply a significant concentration of the product on the trees in order to kill a tree and it would have to be sprayed all over the tree. Ashgrove Ashgrove has sent an email requesting to move a road so they can expand their operation. They are having a title search done so all owners of record will be notified and/or asked to sign a petition. This may not happen for a couple of years. Encroachment Permits Mullen moved to approve the encroachment permits for Century Link on Tizer Lake and Old Alhambra Roadways. Kirsch seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
