DEPT HEAD 2019 12-03 IT IT Department Report December 3,2019 Present: Commissioners: Leonard Wortman, Bob Mullen and Cory Kirsch, and IT Director, Cody Jones. Black Mountain Software is working better now that 10 gig fiber was installed between the buildings. Jones needs to look at other options for the Central Shop building. The current dish is installed on the courthouse roof and it has caved in part of the roof. Jones can fix this by adding and extension on the public safety building which will relay internet to the Central Shop building. The wireless panic alarm system has been installed in the buildings. Jones has fifty buttons to pass out to those departments that need them. The company can also install keyless door systems into our buildings. The cost is approximately $2000 per door. Wortman asked what the advantage would be? Jones stated that you could use a keyless card to access a building and the system would keep track of who is entering and you can give access to those who should have it and deny access to anyone else. There are a lot of options on controlling access to the county buildings. The IT department may take over the IT budget for every office. Jones would then be able to assess what is needed in each department and make sure the county computer systems are kept current. Discussion was held regarding phone and internet upgrades. Jones will get quotes from at least eight different companies for the Commissioners to review. Kirsch asked Jones to find out the difference between leasing and buying a system. Kirsch asked Jones to find out from Blackfoot what the cost would be to increase our internet speed to 500. The county's contract with Blackfoot ends September 2021. Wortman asked Jones if Chad Bullis would attend the science and technology meeting held at 7:00 a.m. at Borden's in Whitehall on the second Thursday of every month. Chad may like to become part of this group. ATTEST:_ JL- Gl Bonnie Ramey Leonard Wortman, Chairman Clerk and Recorder / Cory Kirsch, Commissioner Bob Mullen, Commissioner
