RES 1989-11 UNANTICIPATED PILT RESOLUTION 11 -89 WHEREAS, the Jefferson County Commissioners are concerned about water quality of the waterways in Jefferson County, and WHEREAS, there continues to be increasing commercial and recreational activities that could affect surface water quality in Jefferson County, and WHEREAS, it is important to develop background data and information regarding the present quality, and the presence or absence of contaminants or pollutants , in the surface water of the Boulder River and its tributaries in the near future so that any impacts resulting from such future recreation and commercial activities can be determined and measured, and WHEREAS, the Montana School of Mines has proposed to assist in funding necessary studies of water quality with in -kind contributions in the amount of $5798.00, and WHEREAS, Jefferson County has previously worked with the Montana School of Mines and Elmer E. Gless, PhD, to obtain data and information regarding water quality in other tributaries and waterways in Jefferson County, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Jefferson County fund a study as proposed by Dr. Gless in the amount of $21421.00 to complete an ecological study of the surface waters of the Boulder River and its tributaries in order to complete the county -wide study of surface water quality. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that $11421.00 of unanticipated Payment In Lieu of Taxes monies be expended toward this project with the balance to come from a $10000.00 grant from the Water .r Quality Bureau, Montana Department of Health and Environmental Sciences Department, if approved, or from County funds in the 1989 -1990 budget year.
