RES 1983-12 ZONING RESOLUTION NO. WHEREAS, a petition was presented to the Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners for creation of a planning and zoning district pursuant to the provisions of Title 76, Chapter 2, Part 1, MCA, and WHEREAS, the petition proposes to include a section of land, that being Section 2, T-5-N., R.4.W., P.M.M., within the boundaries of the district and requests establishment of the district in order to insure orderly development of the section, and, WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners having determined that the petition contains the signatures of the required sixty percent of freeholders affected within the proposed district and having therefore held public hearing on the matter on May 4, 1983, and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners, while recognizing the reasons and concerns for the request of the freeholders relative to the petition now before it, neverthe- less believes that creation of individual planning and zoning districts may ultimately lead to a disjointed and unmanageable county -wide zoning situation which would not be best suited to the overall public interest or convenience of Jefferson County, and, WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners having realized from consideration of this petition and the public comments made in relation thereto, the need for the establishment of a comprehensive development plan for this county to insure organization, consistency and control in future development, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Jefferson County deems it to be in the public interest to deny the petition for creation of a planning and zoning district for Section 2, T.5.N., R.4.W., P.M.M., and instead will undertake immediate action to begin creation of a county -wide master plan for Jefferson County so that a comprehensive development plan can be established and effectuated pursuant to the terms of Title 76, Chapter 2, Part 2, MCA.
